After Acceptance
the graduate update form and bring/send it to the Geography Office for processing.
Before
you start¡K
1.
Know how to get to PSU campus,
the locations of major buildings on campus (e.g., Cramer Hall, Neuberger Hall,

Make a plan for the GIS courses you will take. Here is an overview
of all GIS courses on PSU campus and the recommended sequences of taking
them. Please note that some of the courses (as indicated in the document) cannot
be used toward the certificate. Before the term starts, check the bulletin
outside the Geography office or Geography course
webpage for course
offerings.
3.
Register for at least one credit for the term you are admitted (or call Geography Office if you need to defer your
start term).
4.
Know the location of your classrooms.
5.
Get an Access Badge (or ¡§student prox card¡¨) in Neuberger Hall lobby. (*Note: this is different from your PSU OneCard.) This badge has a 5-digit number on it (not
your PSU ID#), and we need the badge number in order to issue access to the
computer lab. Tip: avoid long lines by getting your badge
before the term begins¡K any time after you are registered.
6.
Activate your ODIN (computer)
account at the Helpdesk, located in
the basement of Smith Memorial Student Union (18 SMSU). This allows you to log in to any PSU
computer on campus, including Geography labs.
7.
Learn to use campus lab computers, wireless
network, webmail, library resources, etc.

During
the Program¡K
1.
If you need
assistance with course planning, make appointments with the Program Director.
1.
If you have
transfer credits from another institution, submit a GO-11C:
Pre-admission or Transfer Credit form to the Geography Office Coordinator. <follow link for example of how to fill
in this form>
2. Take your courses. Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above.
3.
If you were
admitted conditionally or with deficiencies, submit the GO-7:
Request for Change of Status form to the Geography Office
Coordinator, stating that deficiencies (or prerequisites) have been
satisfied. <follow link for example of how to fill in this
form>
Before
you finish¡K
1. In the first week of the term you wish to graduate, submit the Application for Awarding of Graduate Certificate form to the Office of Graduate Studies. This is currently not available on-line, but the pink half-sheet can be found at the Geography Office or Office of Graduate Studies. <follow link for example of how to fill in this form>
2.
By the end of the term you wish to graduate, fill out the Program Completion-Student Checklist
and submit it to the Geography Office Coordinator (so that she/he can complete
your GIS Program Completion Form when your final grades are in at the
end of the term.)
